|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
Sounds of bluegrass will fill the Peerless Theatre in Holyoke Sunday afternoon, Sept. 16 as part of the 2 p.m. membership drive kickoff for Phillips County Arts Council.
The afternoon of bluegrass music will feature three area bands: Mountain Railroad of Haxtun, The Prairie Pickers of Sterling and The Skunk Runners of Ogallala, Neb.
Proceeds from admission will go to PCAC to support this year’s concert series and other activities.
Peerless concessions will also be open and available for purchase.
During the bluegrass event, community members can sign up for memberships to the 2012-13 PCAC concert series. This membership allows the ticket holder to attend all four concerts in the series.
PCAC has announced another dynamic concert series for the 2012-13 season. The multi-instrumentalists, New Odyssey (Three Guys—Thirty Instruments), are scheduled for Monday, Oct. 15. The musical comedy called A Second Helping (a sequel to Church Basement Ladies) will take the stage Wednesday, Jan. 30. The Abbey Road Band, a tribute to the Beatles, is set for Monday, April 29.
All concerts will be at 7:30 p.m. at Holyoke High School auditorium. A fourth concert featuring a Colorado-based group is being planned and will be announced in the near future.
