|Bowling alley purchase finalized by Phillips County|

Phillips County’s purchase of the bowling alley property immediately east of the courthouse is now finalized, reported commissioners at their Oct. 31 meeting.
They purchased Lots 10 and 11 in Block 20 of the Original Town of Holyoke for $65,000.
Also in the month of October, the board made a final review of the tax incentive application from Seaboard Foods for their new pellet mill. Commissioners decided their $122,853.47 payment for the County Road 35 railroad crossing would be their assistance to the project. No additional tax incentive will be approved, they said.
Commissioners approved a contract with Joe Bellm of BST Promotions to lease the Phillips County Speedway for 2013 with the possibility of extending it to 2014 and 2015.
They also approved a letter of engagement for Ronny Farmer LLC of Lamar for completion of the 2012 audit for Phillips County. The cost is not to exceed $19,000.
Sales and purchases were approved in October. The County accepted the high bid of $250 from Lincoln County for the Yogi Bear teeter-totter and two spring horses from the old Homesteaders Park playground. They also accepted the high bid of $900 for the sale of a 1986 Chevrolet Silverado pickup from Road and Bridge Dist. 1.
Commissioners approved the purchase of a 2013 Rhino mower from G & M Implement in Sterling for Road and Bridge Dist. 2 at a cost of $26,260. With a trade-in value of $6,000 for the old mower, the net price is $20,260.
Three subdivision exemptions were approved for Riley and DeeAnn Dubbert for the sale of approximately 11.5 acres in the NW 1/4 of Section 9, T7N, R44W to Grainland Co-op, for Wilbur and Peggy Davis for the sale of approximately 0.05 acres in the NW 1/4 of Section 4, T7N, R44W to Grainland Co-op and for Rafael Martinez for 7.86 acres in the SE 1/4 of section 6, T7N, R44W.
The board reported the County maintenance crew is converting the old cinderblock restrooms to the west of the fairground grandstands to equipment storage and small shop building.
The County recently contracted for grinding concrete stockpiled at the landfill. Approximately 3,700 tons were ground at $7.50 per ton and will be for sale or use on county projects.
Commissioners approved the use of the courthouse square June 14-15, 2013 for the annual Dandelion Daze event, sponsored by Holyoke Chamber of Commerce.
