As part of a double bridge replacement project in northeastern Colorado, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will completely close US 385 near Julesburg between County Road (CR) 31 and CR 33 from Monday, Dec. 17 at 6 a.m. until Friday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. Throughout the week, the closure will extend to include additional county roads (listed below). A local detour will be marked and in place throughout the entire closure.

The schedule for the 24/7 closure this week is as follows:

—Monday, Dec. 17: US 385 will be closed between CR 31 and CR 33.

—Tuesday, Dec. 18: US 385 will be closed between CR 31 and CR 34.

—Wednesday, Dec. 19: US 385 will be closed between CR 31 and CR 35.

—Thursday, Dec. 20: US 385 will be closed between CR 31 and CR 36.

—Friday, December 21: US 385 will be closed between CR 31 and CR 37.

The US 385 bridge is located near Julesburg at mile marker (MM) 316.7 (spanning the Peterson Canal) and the bridge on US 138 is located at MM 1.8 (spanning the Pioneer Ditch) near Sterling. Both bridges, built in the 1950s, have become functionally and structurally obsolete and will be replaced with concrete box culverts.

Normal work hours are from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, with limited night and weekend work. Entries to homes and businesses will remain open, and temporary access points will be arranged during short periods when existing access points are re-built. The speed limit will be reduced to 40 mph in the construction zone. Motorists are urged to drive slowly for the cone zone.
