|HHS alumni coach summer softball|

Three HHS alumni are teaming up to coach girls age 9-15 playing softball this summer. Kia Kassman, Kelsey Scott and Danielle Olofson have two teams this year: the 9-12 girls and those age 13-15. The coaching staff has varying levels of background, but the experience of the three promises to be helpful as the players develop their skills this season.
Kassman is a first-year coach for summer softball, but she is no stranger to the sport or coaching. She has played softball for many years, and was an HHS softball player for two years. This year Kassman was track coach for Haxtun High School.
Scott returns this season as a second-year coach. Before graduating from HHS this year, Scott was a member of the softball team for three years.
Olofson played softball all four of her years at HHS, and began coaching summer softball while she was still a student. This will be her fourth year as a coach, and she is excited for her chance to work with the girls again.
As former Holyoke athletes, the three find it very rewarding to coach a younger generation. Many of the girls, noted Kassman, watched them play sports when they were in high school. Kids look up to the athletes, and now they are in a position to share what they have learned.
Scott shared that the girls have been working very hard during the practices they have already had, and Olofson added she hopes to have a successful season for both teams.
The three will also be coaching the coed t-ball team this summer with baseball coaches Kyle Bules and Stefan Betley.
