Phillips County retiring commissioners Jerry Beavers, pictured above at left, and Bud Biesemeier, in center, share a light moment with fellow commissioner Joe Kinnie at a reception held Friday, Jan. 4 at the Phillips County Event Center. Beavers and Biesemeier, who were term-limited in their county commissioner seats, served 12 years in office. A nice crowd turned out for the Friday reception to thank them for their service.
In a brief presentation, Kinnie thanked the two retirees, specifically noting the new Event Center facility that was built during their tenure as commissioners. “They dedicated a lot of their lives for this county, and for that I give them a lot of respect and honor,” said Kinnie. Graciously accepting their plaques of appreciation, Biesemeier acknowledged they couldn’t have done many of the things they’re given credit for without the support of the people. Beavers added words of gratefulness for the road crews, as well as social services and other organizations they’ve had an association with.
Mary Tomky of Holyoke takes a look at the photo and news article board which were on display at the reception. Highlights of Beavers and Biesemeier’s 12 years in office were featured in the informative display. Those attending enjoyed refreshments and a chance to visit with the retiring commissioners. —Enterprise photos
