Burlington to host wheat summit PDF Print E-mail

Colorado State University Extension is hosting a Wheat Production Summit Thursday, Feb. 28, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and continuing to 4 p.m.

Topics and speakers are: wheat crop status in the U.S. and globally, Darrell Hanavan, Colorado Wheat; Colorado wheat breeding and varieties update, Scott Haley, CSU wheat breeder; Limagrain wheat varieties update, Maria Hall, wheat breeder; Nebraska wheat varieties update, Stephen Baenziger, wheat breeder; Monsanto wheat varieties update, Sid Perry, wheat breeder.

Kansas wheat varieties update, Guorong Zhang, wheat breeder; Syngenta wheat varieties update, Jon Rich, wheat breeder; importance of plant variety protection laws, Mark Henry, Henry Law Firm; water management with wheat, Neil Hansen, CSU agronomist; wheat agronomics, Bruce Bosley, CSU agronomist; seed certification information, Rick Novak, CSU seed certification specialist; and 2013 wheat market update, Mike Martin, Con Agra grain.

Lunch is included in the registration fee. The summit will take place at the Burlington Community Center, located at 340 S. 14th. St.

Four and a half CCA credits are approved, spread across the following catagories: crop management, professional development and soil and water.
