Three recent HHS graduates Brandon Price, Brett Gerk and Austin Tharp, as well as their baseball coach Kyle Bules, participated in the All-State baseball games at Mountain Range High School in Westminster Sunday, May 31.
Price and Gerk, as well as Haxtun High School graduate Kendall Kroeger, were members of the 1A/2A team coached by Bules. They won their ball game 11-6.
Tharp competed with the 2A/3A All-State team, and they lost their outing 14-1.
Promoted through the Colorado Dugout Club, the All-State games featured graduating seniors who were selected after being nominated by coaches.
Kroeger pitched six innings of the nine-inning All-State game, giving up only two runs. He also played catcher and in the outfield.
Price’s positions were second base, shortstop and field; and Gerk played first base.
Price was three for four in hitting, with two stolen bases; Gerk was two for four with a home run; and Kroeger was two for four.
Tharp pitched the fourth inning of his game, giving up no hits, two walks and two runs. Bules said Tharp was catcher for two innings, and he had a tremendous game behind the plate. Additionally, he played left, center and right field. He was one for three in hitting.
The All-State games provided one more opportunity for high school baseball stand-outs to compete again.
