|13-15 girls take third in tourney|

Softball players from around the league gathered in Holyoke last week to compete in the Border League tournament June 29-July 1. Holyoke had two teams in the tourney, one in both the 9-12 and the 13-15 year-old age divisions.
Both teams were coached by Danielle Olofson, Kelsey Scott and Kia Kassman. The tournament was an exciting end to the summer softball season, with the 13-15 team taking third place.
Results of the tournament are as follows:
Holyoke 9-12 year-old softball girls entered the tournament with a 2-6 record, seeded #4 in the south division. Their first game was a 10-0 loss against #1N seeded Ogallala #3. Playing against #3N seeded Oshkosh in round two, Holyoke had their second loss of 6-1, to take them out of the tournament.
Team placings at the end of the tournament were Yuma in first, followed by Ogallala #2, Chappell, Ogallala #3, Sedgwick, Oshkosh, Haxtun and Holyoke.
Holyoke 13-15 year-old softball team entered the tournament seeded #3 with a 7-3 record. In round one, the team beat #6 seeded Oshkosh 11-0. Holyoke’s next game was a 10-9 loss against #2 seeded Sedgwick County, putting them in the third place game.
Competing for third place against Wray, Holyoke was victorious for a 10-3 win and the third place title.
Tournament placings were Ogallala in first, followed by Sedgwick County, Holyoke, Wray, Haxtun and Oshkosh.
