Bobbie Whittaker - December 18, 2009


Roberta “Bobbie” La Rene Whittaker, 71, of Holyoke, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009 in Holyoke.

Bobbie was born April 21, 1938 to Roy and Laurine (Deal) Knight in Elsie, Neb. As a young girl she moved to Los Angeles, Calif. Four years later she moved to a farm southeast of Holyoke and later she moved to Holyoke.

She graduated from Phillips County High School and completed a year of Business College in Denver. On Jan. 17, 1960 she married George “Dick” Whittaker and they were blessed with three children, Gregg, Mark and Darrin. She loved her children and was a great mom.

Bobbie worked as a bookkeeper for many years for the Holyoke Co-op and Dudden Implement. She was a very outgoing, positive, happy and friendly person. She enjoyed sports, spending time watching many games. In fact, Bobbie and Dick’s first date was a baseball game in which Dick was playing.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Family was very important to her especially her grandchildren. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Roy and Laurine Knight, grandchildren Mitchell Whittaker and Miranda Whittaker.

Surviving her are her husband Dick of Holyoke; sons Gregg and Ann of Liberty, Mo., Mark and Nettie of Holyoke and Darrin and Carla of Marysville, Calif.; grandchildren Joshua, Bryce, Katie, Zach and Hannah; brother Pete Knight; sister Lois Smith; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service was Wednesday, Dec. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church, Holyoke with Pastor Glen Osburn officiating. Interment followed in Holyoke Cemetery.
