Pam Craven - March 14, 2010

Patricia “Pam” Ann Craven, 71, was born March 17, 1938 in Ogden, Utah to George Thomas Murray and Gladys Marie Mahanna Murray. She died March 14, 2010, surrounded by her loving family.

Pam was the youngest of four children. In 1948 her family moved to Boise, Idaho where she married Dick Mabe straight out of high school. During their nine years of marriage she had two girls, Linda and Lori. After their divorce, Pam married Terry Pirrong and during their 10-year marriage Pam had two more children, Lisa and Terry. Soon enough after their divorce, Jerry Craven came along and her family figures she must have really liked him because they stuck together ever since, about 31 years. Jerry had some children of his own, so Pam got to be a step-mother to Ray, Shawn and Sheila. The family all has memories of a very full house back then.

Pam retired from Kenworth Transport Equipment in Pocatello, Idaho after 23 years, where she held the position of office manager. During her time working there, she made many friends and touched many lives. She always dealt with people honestly and fairly, and by always believing in the goodness and sincerity of people who needed help she was rarely disappointed when extending credit to a down-on-his-luck truck driver.

Pam enjoyed reading, traveling, dancing, camping and going to the movies. It must be said, however, that her greatest joy in life was simply to be part of the lives of her children and grandchildren. She would be at every dance recital and ball game she could attend.

For the last 31 years Pam enjoyed all the trials and tribulations, heartache and pain and laughter and joy that is had in a large family. She always had enough love to go around and she was a shoulder to cry on and a rock to hang on to. Her door and her mind and heart were always open to anyone who needed shelter from the cold winds that life can bring.

She was a beloved mom, grandma, wife, sister and friend. She has passed on from this world to a better place, while most certainly having made this world a better place with her presence in it for her family and friends. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.

Pam is survived by her husband, Jerry K. Craven; children, Lisa Moffat and husband Joe, Lori Riggs and husband John, Terry Pirrong and wife Terra and Linda Lyford; step-children, Ray Craven and wife Rebecca, Sheila Worley and husband Darren and Shawn Craven; sister, Marie Millage of Holyoke; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Pam was held March 18 at Downard Funeral Home in Pocatello with interment at Mountain View Cemetery.
