Lenny Vernon - July 12, 2010Leonard “Lenny” Dale Vernon, 54, of Holyoke was born in Holyoke Sept. 7, 1955. He died July 12, 2010 at his home in Holyoke.
Lenny was raised with his four sisters and two brothers by his parents Clarence and Shirley (Chandler) Kroeger.
He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke.
He graduated from Holyoke High School and married Rhonda Turner in 1975. He later married Lynn Saunders in 1988.
Lenny worked as a diesel mechanic and was involved in cattle and hog production. He enjoyed drawing, hunting, fishing, camping and bowling. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and loved watching sports.
Preceding him in death are his mother, Shirley (Chandler) Kroeger; fathers, Clarence Kroeger and Donald Vernon; wife Rhonda Vernon; and wife Lynn Vernon.
He is survived by his two children, Lonny Vernon and wife Julie of Holyoke and Jennifer Bencomo and Gregg Elmquist; grandchildren, Joel Leonard Bencomo, Angel Joseph Marquez, Izeah Gregory Elmquist, Mason Jerrott Vernon, Morgann Paige Vernon and Jaidah Kaylynn Elmquist, all of Holyoke; four step-children; six step-grandchildren; brothers, Rodney Vernon and wife Sharon and Jerry Kroeger, all of Holyoke; sisters, Becky Peterson and husband Randy of North Platte, Neb., Peggy Brown and Paul Davery of Holyoke, Sheri Bornhoft and husband Tommy of Fleming and Lona Salyards and husband Dave of Haxtun; five nephews; five nieces; and numerous cousins and friends.
Lenny’s funeral service was held July 16 at Gerk Funeral Home in Holyoke with Pastor Lou Encinias officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in rural Holyoke.
Gerk Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
