Doug Hahn - September 06, 2011

Doug Kent Hahn, 67, of Sterling, was born June 30, 1944 in Haxtun, the youngest son of Ray and Ila (Wisdom) Hahn. He died Sept. 6, 2011 in Denver.

He attended elementary school in Arizona and Washington and graduated from Haxtun High School in 1964.

Doug married Carol Radtke in Amherst on Aug. 7, 1966. To this union, three children were born: Kinnie, Corbett and Wendy. On June 30, 1981, Doug married Lana Hinde in Sterling.

Even before graduating from high school, Doug worked as a supervisor in the pea fields in Oregon. After graduation, he worked heavy construction at both Elk Mountain and Sterling, worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad, picked apples in the apple orchards in Oregon, worked for Adolph Coors in Golden, and for the past 30 years worked for Plains Marketing in Texas, Oklahoma and Sterling.

Doug enjoyed a variety of activities, especially reading, listening to books on tape, playing pool and traveling. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying each sports season during the year. Doug enjoyed spending time with his children and was very proud of his 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Ila Hahn; and sister, Donna Marlene Hahn.

He is survived by his wife, Lana Hahn of Sterling; daughters, Kinnie Reuter and husband Michael of Kimball, Neb. and Wendy Burns and husband Robert of San Antonio, Texas; sons, Corbett Hahn and wife Christine of Gothenburg, Neb. and John Hinde and wife Samantha of Brighton; brothers, Raymond of Walla Walla, Wash. and Kenneth of Athena, Ore.; sister, Marilyn Miller of Paoli; grandchildren, Blythe, Tyson, Caleb and Izaac Reuter, Collin and Chase Hahn and Camryn, Kadyn, Addisyn and Rogan Burns.

Funeral services were held Sept. 10 at Tennant Funeral Home in Sterling. Interment followed at Haxtun Cemetery.
