Norm Wagoner - October 14, 2011


Norman Lee Wagoner, age 63, of Holyoke, was born Feb. 10, 1948 in Quinter, Kan. to Sylvester and Genevieve (Linnenberger) Wagoner. He died suddenly Oct. 14, 2011 in Holyoke.

Norm married Janet Phlieger at Sacred Heart Church in Park, Kan. on May 3, 1969.On Jan. 15, 1972, their son Bradley was born in Scott City, Kan. In April 1978, the family moved from Leoti, Kan. to Holyoke.

Norm was a member of the Holyoke Fire Department from 1982-2002 and also served as the fire chief.

In 1980 after many years of working at Kansas-Nebraska Gas Company, he opened his own heating and air conditioning business. During the past 31 years in business he met many people and built many strong friendships.

Preceding him in death are his wife, Janet; his parents; sister-in-law, Judy Phlieger; and niece, Tamera Wagner.

Norm is survived by his son, Brad Wagoner; brothers, Ron Wagoner and wife Bernita of Great Bend, Kan., Larry Wagoner and wife Sherry of Salina, Kan., Art Wagoner and wife Terri of Salina and Kenny Wagoner and wife Karen of McPherson, Kan.; sister, Sharon Gagnon and husband Mart of Grainfield, Kan.; and a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.

Visitation was scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 19, noon-5 p.m. at Gerk Funeral Home in Holyoke.

The funeral service was set for Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Holyoke, with Father William Jungmann officiating.

A wake will be held for Norm Thursday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park, Kan.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Oct. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park with Father Michael Elan performing the service. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Norman Wagoner Memorial Fund, 739 S. Baxter, Holyoke, CO 80734.
