Marie Millikin - July 25, 2012
Marie Millikin, 90, longtime Brule, Neb. resident, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala, Neb.
Marie was born April 18, 1922 in Amherst, the daughter of Herbert and Blanche (Loudneth) Jung.
Marie graduated from Holyoke High School.
She worked at a cafe in Ogallala where she met Jarvis Millikin. The couple married Nov. 28, 1942. After Jarvis was discharged from the military, the couple settled in Brule and welcomed their only child, Don “Butch” Millikin.
Marie belonged to Brule Garden Club, Brule Flower Club and Women’s Fellowship of Brule, which served the United Church of Christ, Congregational of Brule. Marie served as the clerk at the Brule Post Office for many years, retiring in 1987.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 70 years, Jarvis Millikin of Brule; son, Don “Butch” Millikin and his wife Nancy of Brule; two granddaughters, Angie Millikin Goodgame of Downers Grove, Ill. and Michelle Millikin of Scottsdale, Ariz.; great-grandson, Matthew Goodgame of Downers Grove, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews and special friends including Sue Millikin and Jane Bishop.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters, Roma Jung and Lorraine Jung Schmidt; and brothers, Melvin Jung, Claude Jung and Leonard “John” Jung.
Funeral service was Tuesday, July 31 in the Brule United Church of Christ, Congregational with Revs. Lauran Heidenreich and Phil Ewert officiating.
Interment followed at the Brule Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brule Fire & Ambulance or to United Church of Christ, Congregational in Marie’s name.
