Wava Holcomb - August 09, 2012

Wava Arlene Holcomb died Aug. 9, 2012 at Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke. She was 78. She was born April 9, 1934 in Milford, Ind. Wava was the daughter of Oliver and Cora Phovemire.

She married Keith Holcomb in Angola, Ind. The couple moved to Capac, Mich., where they farmed. The couple then moved to a farm southeast of Haxtun in the Wages community in 1969.

Wava was preceded in death by her father and mother; brother, Robert Phovemire; and daughter, Connie (Holcomb) Weed.

She is survived by her sister, Wauneta Holcomb of the Wages community; sons, Henry Holcomb of Goodland, Kan., Charles Holcomb of Bournemouth, England and Dennis Holcomb of Haxtun; and 10 grandchildren.

The funeral service was scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Gerk Funeral Home in Haxtun. Interment was set to follow at the Haxtun Cemetery.
