Vonnie Lewis - July 28, 2012
Vonnell Marie Lewis was born June 6, 1947 in Holyoke, the daughter of Leslie Wayne and Doris Marie (Oliver) Abbey. She died July 28, 2012.
She was raised and received her education in the Holyoke community, having been a graduate of Holyoke High School with the Class of 1966. Following high school, Vonnell attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling where she received her associate degree.
Vonnie went to Oregon in 1973 and resided there for some time before moving to the community of Richland, Wash. In 1977, Vonnie moved back to the Hillsboro, Ore. community, where she found joy in taking care of children and had a day care out of her home. She resided there until 1993.
Vonnie then moved to Las Vegas, Nev. and was employed at Boulder Station Casino and the Stratosphere. In 2010, Vonnie made her home in the Forest Grove, Ore. community and had resided there ever since.
Vonnie was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Among her special interests, Vonnie enjoyed puzzles, spending time with her grandchildren, walking along the beach to collect seashells and going out to eat, and she loved her cats.
Vonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Doris Abbey.
She is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law, Sean and Misty Lewis of Forest Grove and Cameron Lewis of Tigard, Ore; brother, Larry Abbey of Holyoke; and grandchildren, Kierstyn and Aiden Lewis.
