Lois H. Kohrell died and was called to the Lord on June 19, 2013. He gracefully wrapped his arms around her and allowed her to rest in his beautiful garden. She was surrounded by her loving family and passed peacefully at Hospice of Northern Colorado in Greeley.

Lois was born May 20, 1922, in Paoli to Albert Christ Vogel and Mabel Lola (Schwartz) Vogel. During her childhood, she lived in the Arickaree and Paoli areas. Lois told stories of riding horses to school when they lived near Beecher Island. She graduated from Haxtun High School in 1940.

She shared fond memories of being a member of the Benson Transfer softball team. This softball team played games in Colorado, Nebraska and Kansas. They also participated in state tournaments in Denver.

Lois married Floyd L. Kohrell on May 12, 1945, in Indianapolis, Ind., while he was serving in the Navy during World War II. They were both active members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization. One of their favorite pastimes was square dancing. To this union one child was born: Deborah.

While Deborah was a child, Lois taught Sunday school and helped organize Vacation Bible School at the First United Methodist Church. In 2009, she was recognized for being a member for 50 years. She was also a member of the Paragon Club. Lois was well acquainted with many members of the Holyoke community due to the various jobs that she held.

Throughout her life, Lois enjoyed making a variety of crafts, embroidering, coloring, painting, cooking and dancing. In her later years, she cross-stitched wall hangings for family members. In 2003, Lois moved to Fort Collins to be closer to her family but most importantly her great-grandchildren.

In 2010 she returned to Holyoke and entered Carriage House assisted living.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd L. Kohrell; her parents, Albert and Mabel Vogel; son-in-law, Gary Zetterquist; infant twin sister, Lola Vogel; sisters, Hazel Alberts, Mirlan Demmel and Fern Singmaster; and brother, Kenneth Vogel.
