Eugene Singmaster - March 06, 2014

Eugene S. Singmaster died March 6, 2014, at East Morgan County Hospital in Brush at the age of 89. He was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Albert “Roy” and Evelyn “Louise” (Kennedy) Singmaster.

Eugene attended Fort Scott High School and drove a truck in his working years. He moved to the Holyoke area in the mid-1940s, where he met and married Fern Maxine Vogel on Feb. 20, 1948. They resided in the Holyoke area for several years before moving to Torrington, Wyo.. They then resided in the Denver area for many years until they retired in the early 1990s in Holyoke and then in Julesburg in 2000.

When not driving a truck, he enjoyed spending time with family and camping.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fern; parents, Albert “Roy” and Evelyn “Louise”; brothers, Harold, Herbert, Robert, Albert (Brown) and Donald; and sisters, Carrie, Marjorie, Isabel and Jane.

He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Singmaster of Julesburg; granddaughter, Amy Singmaster and friend Rick Michalak of Parker; granddaughter, Shelley Cram and friend Michael Bozzetto of Sydney, Australia; great-grandchildren, Cody and Kelley Jo of Sydney, Australia; daughter, Susan Hyatt and husband David of Torrington, Conn.; daughter, Jeanie Dwiggins and husband Jim of Brighton; son, Lonnie Singmaster and wife Jil of Springhill, Kan.; grandson, K.C. Singmaster of Kansas City, Kan.; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Bullock of Kirksville, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at the cemetery in Holyoke on March 15.
