Samantha (Spohn) McNally - June 14, 2009
A memorial gathering for Samantha Joy (Spohn) McNally is planned Saturday, Aug. 22 at 3 p.m. at City Park in Holyoke. The gathering will be hosted by her sister, Stephanie Spohn and friend, Brianne Danielson.
Samantha Joy (Spohn) Mc Nally was born April 23, 1980 to William F. and Linda M. (Nelson) Spohn in Holyoke. She died June 14, 2009 at the age of 29.
She spent the first week of her life in Children’s Hospital in Denver. She was a 1998 graduate of Holyoke High School, where she enjoyed band, drama club and working with the wrestling team as a statistician.
She attended Northwest Kansas Vo-Tech School, receiving a degree in engineering. Samantha was a licensed land surveyor for the United States, and traveled the neighboring states extensively.
Samantha enjoyed working in the kitchen with her mother, fishing and camping with her family, spending family time and “just needing to hear her sister’s voice” on the phone.
Samantha is preceded in death by her mother, Linda M. (Nelson)Spohn; grandparents, Fred and Minnie Spohn and Orvis and Carmen Nelson; and father-in-law Mark McNally.
She is survived by her husband, Jeremy McNally, sons, Jason, age 6, and Drake, 4 and daughter, little Miss Dillon, 9 months, all of Denver; father, Bill Spohn, step-mother, Deb and sister Stephanie Spohn, all of Grand Junction; father-in-law, John Green and mother-in-law, Deborah Green of Denver; plus an array of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and very dear friends—all of which will truly miss her.
Sam chose to be an organ donor. One kidney went to New York, all other organs stayed here in Colorado.
A memorial has been set up at Bank of the West in Holyoke.
