Charlie Cogburn - September 09, 2009
Charles Lee Cogburn, 75, of LaSalle?, died Sept. 9, 2009 at home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
He was born May 7, 1934 in Gilcrest to Elbert “Rusty” Jefferson and Margaret (Bernd) Cogburn. He married Joan Brungard on Feb. 26, 1952 in Greeley.
Charlie pursued his passion of farming in the Gilcrest and Holyoke areas until 1997, when he retired and moved to LaSalle. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. There were no strangers in Charlie’s life. Everyone he met was his friend.
He is survived by his wife of 57 1/2 years, Joan; son, Steven (Marcia) Cogburn of Holyoke; daughters, Diana Cogburn of Salt Lake City, Utah, Vicky (Chris) Fillinger of Greeley and Kim Cogburn of LaSalle; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce (Jake) Jeffries, Lois (Jim) Drewer, Nancy (Bill) Waller and Phyllis (Peter) Webb; brothers, Elbert (Butch) Cogburn and Norman (Judy) Cogburn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Sept. 14 at Adamson Chapel. Inurnment was in the loving arms of his family.
